Hello! My name is Ruby and I am delighted to join 400 Communications at this exciting time for the company. I bring to the team my skills in account and project management honed at agencies such as Hogarth Worldwide and BBH, and experience of working with clients from a range of sectors including financial services, technology and FMCG. I recently returned to the UK from a client-side role in Berlin with fashion tech company Zalando SE where I managed corporate design projects for the entire company.
To give you some insight on when my love for communication design may have begun: as I child I would doodle adverts for imaginary perfumes and later as a teen I would collect ring binders full of fashion adverts torn from magazines. Why I did this is not entirely clear – however I am the owner of a kick-ass archive of 90s print advertising!
In a plot twist, I went on to study Fine Art at university. I was particularly enamoured with artists who harnessed communications media to create visual languages that existed outside of the art institutions, such as Jenny Holzer’s use of UNEX electronic displays and projections to display her aphorisms, and the Guerrilla Girls who used a variety of print channels traditionally used by mainstream media to spread their activist messages. Whilst studying I completed an internship at the excellent Kemistry Gallery in Shoreditch which re-focused my attention on design and I have not looked back since. Today I enjoy drawing and mixed media collage in my free time and caring for my family of houseplants.
What is the best part of my job? I feel immensely fortunate to get to work on a daily basis with great creative minds, such as the team here at 400. Finding elegant solutions to challenges by collaborating with clients is deeply satisfying and I enjoy learning about our clients’ companies. I am very much looking forward to working with the talented team at 400 and their ever-growing roster of clients.
