World Health Organization: Neglected Tropical Diseases
Campaign identity and communications to support action to control, prevent, eliminate and eradicate Neglected Tropical Diseases.
Neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) are a diverse group of 20 conditions that disproportionately affect women and children in impoverished tropical communities. These diseases are “neglected” as they’re almost absent from the global health agenda, receive little funding, and are associated with stigma and social exclusion. But they cause devastating health, social and economic consequences to more than one billion people.
Guided by the ‘NTD Roadmap 2021-2030’ the WHO has set out ambitious targets for tackling these diseases in an integrated manner, that align with those of the Sustainable Development Goals. This included recognising 30 January as World Neglected Tropical Disease (NTD) Day.
We were appointed to develop a campaign identity and toolkit to help increase awareness of NTDs, and to highlight the accomplishments of the global NTD community.
We developed an eye-catching graphic language to emphasise the progress and impact of the WHO’s work, a distinctive colour palette and typography, iconography, guidelines and a library of templates to ensure consistent application across a range of campaign materials.
The campaign successfully elevated awareness of NTDs amplified the call on global leaders and citizens to rally and confront the inequalities that drive them, and helped to increase momentum towards a world free of NTDs by 2030.
