United Nations Environment Programme: World Ozone Day 2022
Campaign concept, visual identity and communications for World Ozone Day, the UN’s International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer.
World Ozone Day on 16 September celebrates the signing of the Montreal Protocol and the role it has had in ending the depletion of the ozone layer, making it the most successful environmental treaty to date.
The theme ‘Global cooperation protecting life on earth’ recognises the Montreal Protocol’s wider impact on climate change, and highlights the need for global collaboration in order to protect life on earth for future generations.
We chose to bring the concept to life with a series of striking images capturing the breadth of life on earth, and a graphic device representing the strengthening of the ozone layer. We developed a campaign toolkit and template library and produced a range of campaign collateral, including event materials, posters and social media graphics, all in 6 languages.
The campaign’s impactful visual content raised awareness of World Ozone Day, achieved high levels of engagement, and focused attention on the clear and lasting message that only a truly global effort can protect humanity and all life on Earth.
