Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions
Visual identity, guidelines and publications to strengthen the profile of the BRS Secretariat and help increase awareness of their vital work in addressing the global challenge of hazardous chemicals and wastes management.
Administered by UNEP, the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions are multilateral environmental agreements that share the common goal of protecting human health and the environment from hazardous chemicals and waste.
We were approached to revitalise and bring consistency to their visual identity and materials, to help them to communicate with greater confidence and clarity across all channels.
To retain familiarity and visual continuity the brief specified that the existing logos for each Convention couldn’t be changed, so we introduced a refreshed colour palette and typography to compliment the hexagonal graphic and to signal a subtle, contemporary update. We used the hexagon as the basis for a series of graphic patterns to bring texture, depth and visual interest, curated a new library of eyecatching imagery, and developed a distinctive and versatile design system to ensure all elements worked in harmony across all applications.
The new identity, guidelines, online brand portal, assets and comprehensive template library provide the Secretariat with a robust, distinctive and easy-to-use brand language that elevates their visual presence and provides a platform to drive an increased awareness of their work.
